I used Lipton onion soup mix instead of condensed. With 3 cups of h2o with the soup mix we had oodles of gravy. Quick and easy dish that tastes fantabulous. Family unit says "keeper".
03/25/2002
This recipe is peachy if fixed in the crockpot. Some people complained that it was dry out. I put the cut upward steak in the crockpot and mixed the 2 soups and water and poured it over the meat.Almost an 60 minutes before serving I mixed 3T. of flour with water ice water and whisked it in. The unabridged cooking time was vii hrs on high calculation flour mixture at the 6th hr. It was tender and the gravy was fabulous!!!!!
09/24/2002
I make this recipe ALOT! This is the only reason I purchase round steak. I sometimes add 2 tin can of the french onio soup, instead of a can of water, just to have more flavor, and tenderness. Cheers and so much!!!
03/thirty/2008
This was delish!! I slightly altered recipe as others suggested and used a pkg of Lipton onion soup mix (instead of can French onion) as I keep that on manus. Also used 1 can beef goop instead of h2o, and put in crock pot for two hrs on high and 4 hrs on depression. Meat was tender!!! Did not demand to add together flour or cornstarch considering gravy was a good consistency every bit is. Besides added a few dashes of blackness and red pepper, garlic powder, and Creole seasoning, and then would not exist banal. Served with rice and stemmed broccoli.

I fabricated a ane-iii/four# thin round steak in my crock pot.I salt-peppered the steak and lightly dusted both side with Garlic Powder. I threw the steak in a pan with a little oil on the bottom and cooked it on both sides for about1-2 minutes on loftier estrus just to quick brown it. And then I put it in the crock pot and added the 1 can of cream of mushroom and 1 can of French Onion soup but did NOT add the can of water. I cut up a few slices of onion and spread them over the pinnacle. Cooked on high for 2 hours and two hours on low. Then I put the gravey in a pan over medium loftier rut and sprinkled in a couple of tablespoons of flour to thicken. Crawly taste and meat fork tender. There is no manner your meat can exist dry or tough. This is fool proof. I made mashed potatos and put gravey over information technology likewise! If your meat is thicker and the top of it is exposed you might consider calculation the water to it, simply if it is thinner leave the h2o out. A much richer taste. Either mode you lot will probably want to thicken it upward by whisking some flour into the gravey. Savor!

Bang-up! This is true condolement food...and it is ridiculously easy to brand! All I had was regular steaks (not round) so I wasn't too sure how it would turn out, but it was just incredible! I seasoned the steaks with pepper and garlic salt and so browned them in a fiddling olive oil in a skillet. Instead of cooking the steaks in the oven, I just simmered everything on the stove, covered, for an hour. My steaks were not dry at all...so flavorful!! I simply had 2 steaks, and then I used 1/2 can of cream of mushroom soup, and 1 whole can of the french onion (no water), and added in a iv oz can of sliced mushrooms. I also added a scrap of flour to the gravy at then end to thicken information technology upwards. I mixed up some instant potatoes, microwaved some frozen veggies and had an incredibly piece of cake, GOOD, and well-balanced meal.. .and the best part, I only put in about 5 minutes of active work. I will definitley brand this again and again when I'thousand looking for a good home cooked repast, but don't want to cook!!
04/02/2003
This was adept. I used the deadening cooker and the meat cooked over 8 hours. I only had a pound of round steak, I used cr. of mushroom and then Lipton Onion soup mix plus 2 cups of water. I besides added well-nigh 1/2 cup of mushrooms. About 30 min before serving, I stirred in 3 tbl of flour dissolved in water. Served over mashed potatoes. This gravy was very flavorful and this seems to be a very budget wise meal. The gravy will be reused to serve over biscuits on the weekend. Thanks for the keen recipe!!
12/27/2010
I made this in the skillet. I cutting the steak into pocket-sized chunks and seared equally directed. I then removed the steak and added the two soups and the tin can of water. I brought it to a eddy and and so returned the steak to the skillet. I simmered for about an hour and 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. In the final 20 minutes I added a tablespoon of flour dissolved in 1/two cup water. This thickened the gravy perfectly! Swell recipe! Will brand this again.
06/17/2005
This is a succulent recipe. I used dry onion soup mix and added two soup cans of water, instead of a can of French Onion soup. Information technology'southward less expensive and the flavor is wonderful.
01/11/2002
Good and easy too! Next time I will cut the cooking time in half.
11/15/2007
Kids & family loved information technology. Easy! I subbed dry onion soup mix with ane/2 can of milk for the french onion soup. I didn't even sear the meat. I don't call up you tin tell.
01/22/2009
yum!! i cooked this in a deep old time cast fe skillet. i seared information technology without oil on both sides with garlic, pepper, and seasoned salt, then added the soups, h2o, then added chopped onion, scallions, and threw in some sliced portobellas. baked it at 375 for 1.v hrs with cast iron chapeau on and wow! corking dish! it reminded me kinda of beef tips without all the flour and cornstarch and that other carb stuff! great dish! i will brand again! oh, but i do suggest trimming all the fat as suggested by recipe. i fabricated error of biting into a slice with some fatty on it and it was not pleasant at all! lol! great dish otherwise!
02/21/2006
I'm non sure if it was something I did wrong, but my meat was very dry and the gravy dried up also. The flavour that was left was very proficient though. I think I may try it again, it had to be faulty... peradventure shorten the cooking fourth dimension.
09/27/2014
This recipe is great. I have an atomic number 26 kettle so prepared the unabridged recipe as follows: I seasoned each piece of steak with salt and pepper, lightly dusted with flour and browned in a pocket-sized amount of olive oil with 1 clove of minced garlic. I put a layer of sliced onions on top of the meat. I mixed a can of Campbell'southward Cream of Celery soup (that'southward what I had on hand) and a can of Campbell's French Onion Soup and a total tin of water (rinsed the cans with this h2o) and poured over the browned meat. Put the lid on and baked in a 325 degree oven for two 1/2 hours every bit instructed. This came out tender, succulent and supplied enough of just-thick-plenty gravy for our mashed potatoes. I think searing the meat locks in the juices of the meat and that'south the fashion my mother taught me to do with any roast, steak etc. I practice not understand how whatever of the steak could be dry or tough if the liquid completely covers the meat during the cooking procedure. I was also taught to encompass any meat (with foil or a lid) while it's cooking. However, those inexperienced cooks may not be enlightened of these helpful hints so it's always a good idea to read the comments when preparing a new recipe. I don't recollect there'd exist any problem putting this in a crockpot. Little preparation time is needed and the results are delicious.

Very expert, based on other reviews I fabricated the following changes -- I sprinkled each steak with garlic powder and fresh ground pepper, cut the steak into cubes and browned information technology in a frying pan -- added the foam of mushroom soup, lipton french onion soup mix and beef broth to that and added a mushroom medley to the pan and poured information technology all into a covered casserole dish and baked equally directed. The only affair I would do differently next time is to add some onions to the steak as information technology browned and add those to the mix every bit well.
11/09/2011
A little salty, but proficient. I dredged the tenderized round steak in a niggling flour, common salt & pepper before searing. I used a tin can of mushroom soup, 1 envelope Lipton soup mix and 3 c. water (since I didn't have whatsoever french onion soup). Just the correct amount of gravy. My vi twelvemonth sometime loved it!
12/10/2013
Human pleasing, tasty comfort food with no endeavor at all. I skipped the searing and only placed the steak in teh baking dish and poured the soup/water mix over the tiptop, covered with aluminum foil and baked this for 2.v hours. This turned out steak so tender information technology fell apart during serving and this got raves from my husband. I served this over rice only it would just besides with pasta, potatoes, or biscuits.
02/07/2009
I am not a "recipe rater", only this recipe was and then good, I couldn't Non rate information technology. I followed the recipe AS IS with simply one addition, every bit suggested by another reviewer. I added 3T of flour dissolved in about 1/3 cup water 45 minutes to an 60 minutes before serving and the whole thing came out amazing!
10/07/2006
This recipe is awesome, soo like shooting fish in a barrel and and so delicious! I did make a few changes. I cut the beef into very pocket-sized pieces, seasoned with pepper, onion and garlic pulverization. I and then seared it in a pan with some diced garlic and a bit of olive oil, I too added a small can of sliced mushrooms. Then I broiled for 1 hour and 20 minutes. I thickened the gravy with a scrap of cornstarch and served with cheese mashed potatoes and corn. It was super easy on prep fourth dimension and it was delicious. My husband and I had a friend helping us paint and he said we should open a restaurant!!! So, information technology was definitely a hitting with him!!! Thanks, Nancy for a great recipe!
04/xv/2008
This was very simple to make and very tasty and flavorful. I did follow others suggestion and used 1 package of the dry onion soup mix instead of the can that was called for. Afterwards dipping the round steak in flour and browning it in a dutch oven, I mixed the tin of cream of mushroom soup the dry onion soup mix and two cans of water and poured it over the circular steak. I added 1 beefiness bullion cube and baked at 350 degrees for two hours. The round steak was tender and I had to add nada to the gravy. It was the perfect consistency. I will certainly brand this once more.
04/11/2011
Wow, this was wonderful. I didn't have whatever french onion soup so I sliced upward 1 medium onion and carmelized it, added some salt and and so added 1.v cups of water instead. I only cooked it for ii hours because I ran out of fourth dimension merely it was and then tender and flavorful. I will brand this once again.
05/09/2003
THIS RECIPE IS VERY SIMILIAR TO I I HAVE HAD FOR YEARS CALLED "PORK STEAK DINNER IN A DISH". TRY Calculation PEELED QUARTERED POTATOES, SLICED CAROTS AND A Tin can OF PEAS. YOU'LL Accept A COMPLETE MEAL.
12/04/2008
I was wondering how you can melt a slice of circular steak. I used the crock pot suggestion and it worked out dandy. I have done this before with a chuck roast with the same great results. I did not use the french onion soup since I didn't have any, but will put it on my shopping list. I think that information technology will have a nicer, more subtle onion season than the dry soup mix I used. Because I used the dry soup mix, I did add together iii/4 can water. I always dredge my meat in flour and brown it before putting information technology in the crock pot. Otherwise, I find it kind of boils the meat and it tin be more than rubbery than tender-juicy-fall-autonomously meat. I would suggest adding some garlic for those who similar it, too!!
07/18/2012
I'm writing this down now so I don't forget what I did (grin) - if it tastes as good as I'm certain information technology will, it'll have saved me from making whatever mistakes in the future. Only had ane/two pkg of onion soup mix, and then (afterward dredging and frying up meat) sauted 1/2 an onion. In meantime, rehydrated stale porchini mushrooms in humid water. Added them and liquid (little over a cup) to sauted onion and cream of mushroom soup. Returned seared meat dorsum to pan, covered, and they're all happily singling along at a simmer on my stovetop. UPDATE: The sauce/gravy was fantastic. The meat, while tender, was horrid . Non irresolute rating as I'm sure it was because I used tenderized round steak. Don't recommend dredging in flour either as it gave a mealy gustation to meat. Side by side time merely employ regular circular steak.
01/08/2007
My family loves this. I double the recipe and apply 2 cans of French onion soup and ane tin of cream of mushroom. The next day, I dice upward the leftover meat and add it to a bag of Reames Egg Noodles (frozen food dept.)
11/xxx/2016
I have made this a few times. The showtime time I followed the "instructions". After reading the reviews I decided to melt it in the slow cooker. I use Lipton onion soup mix, cream of mushroom with garlic soup, 2 soup cans of water plus some mushrooms (either tin or fresh) and some chopped onion. If I'm domicile cook on high for 2 hours + low for two hrs or just on low for 8 hrs if I'm non domicile. Enough of gravy to put over the steak and potatoes/noodles. Super easy and my family likes information technology.
07/09/2006
We enhance our own beef and have them custom processed. We always have the circular tenderized, however this lean cut can still be tough. This looked adept and it turned out wonderful and super tender!! I did turn the meat halfway through cooking and it was washed in 2 hrs. The family says it's a new favorite, I hold!
11/20/2011
Actually good and so easy. Used gilt mushroom soup, half can of milk, one bundle of lipton soup mix and a cup of h2o. Skilful, merely a petty salty, may just use 1/ii a packet of soup mix.
03/25/2013
I make this a lot and bask it. However, I practise prefer a couple of changes- I use Aureate Mushroom soup, and I add sliced onions and mushrooms on the elevation of the steak before adding the soup and h2o. I like this flavor better. Merely this is a skillful, simple recipe.
09/22/2008
I have fabricated this for years...just in the crockpot, mix the soups and pour over the meat in the morn and cook on low 6-eight hours. It makes it'due south ain gravy. Like shooting fish in a barrel!!!
01/22/2007
I really enjoyed this and then easy to make. I did make a few changes. I used a tin of beef broth and the stale french onion soup with water. I besides thickened it up just a bit by calculation some flour and milk at the end of the cook fourth dimension.
09/04/2005
Excellent and EASY!! Good for offset cooks or older kids.
10/06/2008
I made this in the crockpot. Information technology was simply missing something. Ok every bit a meal if you aren't feeling excited about anything, just I just didn't find it all that bang-up.
02/22/2004
This was absolutely succulent!! I used the cream of mushroom w/roasted garlic soup and onion soup mix with 2 cups of water, pepper, mushrooms and an hour before it was washed I added some flour - the steak was so tender we didn't fifty-fifty need to utilize a knife! My family LOVED it! I served it over egg noodles...I will definitely be passing this recipe on to my friends!
02/01/2010
This recipe is excellent and easy to prepare. I fabricated it in the crockpot. I cooked it on depression for 7 hours. Used the advise of previous reviews: used boosted seasonings, and substituted beef goop for the water. The meat cruel apart when touched with a fork which is hard to imagine with round steak!
01/06/2011
I followed another reviewer's suggestion, searing the round steak pieces in a cast iron skillet & so cooking them in the crock pot for about 6-7 hours on high. I used near one-half a soup can of white wine to deglaze the skillet & then added that to the crock pot along with the two soups. Since I added the wine, I decreased the water to nigh one-half a soup can. The meat turned out very tender & the gravy was thick enough without adding flour (but I acknowledge I'm not a fan of thick gravy). We had it over rice. I will probably remember virtually ways to add a little more flavor, but equally is, it is a good solid meal & perfectly edible.
03/22/2010
Using what was on hand, I combined the small can of French onion soup with a large tin of foam of mushroom, plus a big dash of garlic powder for my family's taste. I cooked it on high for ii hours and and so low for another iii. The meat was perfect. I made a gravy out of what was left and its flavor was fantastic. This was a large hit and I'll make it again.
02/07/2007
Very proficient, I used a pot roast in the crock pot with a can of mushroom soup and a tin of progresso french onion, no water. Thickend it upward with cornstarch at the terminate. Kids loved it!
11/03/2008
Absolutely delish! Cooked exactly every bit the recipe was written. Very easy. Will have again.
10/22/2001
Sherri (who posted on three/3/03), you lot admittedly MUST permit the round steak cook for the entire 2 i/2 hours or your meat will be tough and dry.
09/30/2010
very skillful we all loved it
01/10/2012
I used the flip steaks and the soups and one cup water. I also dredged the steaks in flour before I browned them. It came out perfectly. I cooked for an hour and had to add a fiddling h2o towards the terminal 15 minutes. The gravy was thick and tasty.
04/17/2008
This was good. Made information technology in the crockpot and it was very tender and the flavor was proficient. Will brand once more.
04/05/2010
My family loves this recipes. My picky teenage daughter gets totally excited when she comes habitation from school and smells this cooking in the crockpot. I withal, utilize an cream of soup that I have on hand - 2 cans different kinds; any Lipton soup mix, and i/four can of water just. Everytime there is a slight different taste, just ever expert. I accept used cream of onion, cerlery, mushroom, garlic mushroom, lipton beefy mushroom, onion - all turns out skillful.
08/08/2009
Tasty and piece of cake recipe! I followed the recipe except added some crushed garlic to the soup mixture. I cooked it in a large-ish roasting pan which, because of the size made a thin layer of soup, it cooked the liquid off then the gravy was super thick. I may actually add more than h2o adjacent time for a thinner gravy. Only 4 stars because information technology was a trivial salty for me (and I more often than not dear salty stuff), and the meat was a niggling dry and overcooked later on 1.5 hours. My meat said 'tenderized' on the package so perhaps that'southward why. Next time I'll cook 1 hour or less.
02/20/2007
Extremely simple for how good it is!
08/09/2013
My hubby and I thought this was pretty good. When preparing this dish, I did substitute a can of Campbell's Roasted Garlic and Mushroom Soup, for the foam of mushroom soup. I recollect information technology helped to add some season to the gravy. I took blondie1'due south advice, and before searing the steak, I seasoned both sides of the steak with McCormick'southward Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning, and besides with some garlic powder, then I proceeded to dredge both sides of the steak in flour. The flour also helped to thicken up the gravy a bit, then ne need to thicken the gravy before serving. (To besides thicken up the gravy a bit, I think you lot could just add half a soup tin can of water.) The directions didn't specify to bake this covered or uncovered. I baked ours (covered), and exactly for 2-one/2 hours in the oven. Someday I would like to melt this in a crock-pot. I bet that would taste good cooked that manner too!
01/10/2012
Easy, I idea it needed a little more something. I added a little ruby vino and some garlic salt and subbed the h2o for goop.
06/17/2014
What a terrific flavor this has!!! This is well-nigh dead on the aforementioned way my Mom &I used to make "Swiss Steak" although most folks brand that with a tomato base. I utilise a sparse cut of " round", but I take the butcher run it through the tenderizer. If he can't, I tenderize it myself. So, I flour & spice information technology, before I sear it. The flour helps to thicken the gravy, & searing it brings out the " cooked meat " flavor. Deglaze the pan, & pour that in as well. And then, I add the soup & h2o, & ane bundle of Lipton (Registered Trademark) onion soup & continue with Capco's directions. Thank you Capco for sharing this recipe. So nice to see this recipe already printed, because it was a favorite of my family, & I'thou working on a "Family unit Favorites" cookbook, so my girls volition have them in one identify instead of loose in this cookbook or that. HTH!!!
06/xx/2011
I made it and wasn't that impressed. Non bad non that cracking!!!
08/12/2006
I threw this in my crock pot. Who knew this cut of beef could be so tender. Fantabulous.
10/13/2008
Very proficient. I didn't take French onion soup so I used dry onion soup and beef goop. I also cooked it in the crock pot. It was a little salty, but I'm guessing that was due to the dry soup mix. I will endeavour the recipe exactly as written next time.
04/12/2006
Fabricated this final night and it was a hit with everyone. I substituted the mushroom soup with liptons beefy onion.Used thin circular steak and let information technology simmer on top of my stove in a dutch oven. I barely had leftovers!
ten/06/2011
Loved this gravy. Added garlic powder, onion powder, black and reddish pepper to one can of foam of mushroom soup, a packet of onion soup mix, most a tin can of water and a bear upon of milk. Toward the stop I did add a couple tablespoons of flour mixed with a bit of h2o due to wanting a thicker gravy. Will be using for other cuts of meat as well. Thanks!
05/29/2009
all-time round steak we ever had,did in oven only melt 1hour, so tender, best gravy,i simply change one thing , because i didn't have any, was the onion soup & forgot to add the water, i used basil garlic oxo cube. and it was still expert.will use this recipe again and once again thanks so much
04/08/2008
this was a very piece of cake recipe to follow and everything turned out but the way information technology was supposed to. this is the simply time i have made round steak and it was tender.. makes its ain gravy that had an amazing flavor.. my married man and i loved information technology. thanks
07/11/2009
Just complaint I heard was there wasn't enough then adjacent time I'll double the recipe. (There were 4 men and 2 ladies and anybody would've liked more.) Served with mashed potatoes, fresh greenish beans and rolls. Yummy!
01/12/2009
very good and tender. I used one-half a bag of lipton onion soup mix and stirred together with a can of mushroom soup and 2 one/2 cups water. Cut upwards the meat and pour over. I used the crockpot and put on loftier for 7hrs. of total cooking fourth dimension. Checked at 6hrs. and noticed the gravy a bit runny. Mixed 3T. flour with ice water and mixed in- it thickened right up. Great recipe!
08/06/2008
Mine turned out adept. I would strongly suggest putting the gavy in the pan outset and making like triple the amount of gravy. Good flavor, the house smelled great. I add onion soup mix also.
12/22/2011
Would take liked to see the gravy thicker and similar a gravy, only information technology was pretty good otherwise. I sliced the meat into thin strips and put in the slow cooker. Smelled heavenly throughout the day. Served with side of rice (which is why I wanted a thicker gravy) and broccoli.
11/01/2011
This was wonderful! My hubby loved it. Said it was equally tender as a roast only tasted like steak. This is a keeper!
07/16/2004
This looked similar a corking recipe as written...but I did modify it a bit in society to brand it fit my schedule and ingredients that I had on hand. I had 2 1/2 lbs round steak and used a packet of lipton onion soup mix instead of the tin can of onion soup and about 2 cups water and a small can of mushrooms. Since I was going to be gone about of the day and needed information technology set up for dinner, I decided to cook information technology in the crock pot for 2 hours on loftier and vi on depression. When I got home the aroma was wonderful! The meat was autumn-apart tender, moist and delicious. I served information technology with mashed potatoes and had plenty of the soup mixture to use as gravy. Thanks for a "souper" easy and slap-up tasting recipe!
04/10/2003
I fabricated this recipe exactly as given and it turned out nifty. Definitely a keeper in our house!
12/28/2007
Very expert and easy dinner. I seasoned the steak with pepper, garlic and onion powder. Besides, I used lipton onion soup mix instead of condensed but did non increase the water. The gravey was thick (like we savor) and tasted slap-up but I remember side by side time I will double. The meat was tender and flavorful. I fabricated to certain to broil for the entire two and a one-half hours.
12/27/2012
This recipe was sooo expert my 3 boys loved this. I inverse it up abit an used 2 each of cream of mushroom soup with garlic and condensed French onion. I seasoned the round steak with monterey steak seasoning and garlic powder dipped the meat in flour and browned the meat in olive oil. There was a lot of gravy that I served over mashed potatoes. Excellent recipe. Thanks Annie
08/twenty/2009
Very good basic recipe. I had this in the oven in literally ten minutes. Information technology came out flavorful and tender. I would make this again. There were no leftovers.
01/06/2004
I followed the recipe exactly and the sauce was proficient, but the meat was pretty dry. I recall I might effort it again with the crockpot.
09/24/2001
Really adept and pure comfort food! My husband admittedly loves this. I used cubed steaks, reduced fat soup, one envelope of dried onion soup mix, 2 cans of water, added some fresh mushrooms and served with egg noodles. This is a keeper.
08/22/2001
My family unit really loved this. The only complant was that there wasn't enough gravy. Next fourth dimension I volition double the soups.
08/xviii/2009
Wow, this was delicious. We used the "good for you request" cream of mushroom soup and you couldn't even tell the difference! We also added 1/2 teaspoon each of black pepper and garlic, cooked in the crock pot on low for viii hours-ish. It was SO easy and warm and tasty! Will definitely brand again.
09/01/2008
Been making a recipe similar to this for years. I like to add sliced bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms when I ready it. I also throw in a fair amount of blackness pepper.
xi/09/2003
I too cooked this in the crockpot all mean solar day long rather than the oven. I used other raters suggestions and used Mushroom Soup with Roasted Garlic. I really liked this flavour. Non long before serving I added a little corn starch in cold water to make the gravy thicker so we could spoon it on our mashed potatos. I had too added a can of mushroom slices and a trivial bit of pepper. Overall, a expert repast. I suggest that yous serve this with some type of bread. I neglected to make whatever and my husband and I both commented near how if we had some to sop up the gravy, information technology would have been yummy!!
05/01/2007
It was EXCELLENT! My young man especially loved it. And the extra sauce left over fabricated Corking gravy with mashed potatoes.
12/12/2007
I didn't have onion soup so used 2 cups of water + onion and mushroom dry soup mix along with a can of the cream of mushroom soup. I too used garlic, chopped onions, and green pepper when browning the meat. I covered the roaster with foil then put the hat on to seal in juices. This was a great fall-off-the-fork meal. I served with mashed potatoes --- to take advantage of the succulent gravy. I didn't have quite equally much gravy as I expected, will add more h2o next time. To compensate, I made gravy with the browned bits in the pan, water from my potatoes, and a little cornstarch. Delicious!
04/08/2011
I made this in my Nesco slow cooker and it was outstanding. My husband is very picky and he absolutely raved about information technology. I added a can of sliced mushrooms, and had to use foam of mushroom and cream of celery because thats all I had, still cracking. Ive made again following the recipe exact and it is wonderful both means. I cooked in the roaster on low for 7 hours......deceit wait to make again.......
07/22/2011
super easy
08/23/2008
This was actually very expert. Adjacent time I volition definitely double the sauce mixture considering we like sauce and information technology was great over mashed potatoes!
01/02/2009
I added some pepper and garlic powder to the soup mix and cooked it in a covered skillet for nearly an hour as someone suggested.
12/13/2009
I loved the recipe. I did alter it. I seasoned it with steak seasoning, tenderized it with a meat mallet, dredged it in flour, I fried my steak in a half of inch of oil for three mins on each side. So pat dry out excess oil off. Then placed in casserole dish, I and then mixed 2 cans of mushroom soup and one jar of Heinz savory beef gravy in a bowl. Stirred and mixed well, I poured it over the meat in cassorole dish. I cover with foil (couldn't find my casserole acme) and baked on 350 for 1 hour. Came out very tender, like country fried steak. Served with rice and used the extra gravy to pour on superlative of rice. Delicious. Thanks for the mushroom soup & gravy combo. Much easier than gravy from scratch and thicker & richer than gravy in a jar.
12/02/2008
Mmmm. Made as directed except used more meat than chosen for. Will probably add a piffling more than water adjacent time as nosotros dear our gravy!! Very tender and good fashion to fix an ordinarily mediocre cut of meat.
08/25/2010
Definitely a keeper! I used a thick cut, and then cut in big cubes and increased oven time. I seasoned information technology, sprinkled a little flour, then seared it in a little oil in a pan. I ended up cooking for about 4 hours in a covered baker - very tender. Gravy was great!

I volition defiently try it the real manner adjacent time. I did detect it helpful that yous can make a quick french onion soup with only a ju, butter, and onion in case of cooking emergency.

This is a keen recipe! I can never become any meat to come out tender, but I did with this recipe. This was an excellent 'stick to your ribs' kind of meal. I used a packet of Gilded Onion dry mix instead of the canned onion soup & information technology worked fine. Just upped the h2o to two cans. I mixed 2 TBS of cornstarch with some cold h2o until smooth & stirred it into the crock pot (I cooked information technology on low all day) during the final 60 minutes or and so & information technology made a perfect gravy - very flavorful. Meat was fork tender after a day in the crock pot & anybody, even the picky 5 y/o, liked it. Thanks!

This recipe was very easy and very skilful. I tweaked information technology just a lilliputian, instead of 1 soup tin of water I used i/2 a tin can of potent brewed coffee and one/2 a can of beefiness broth. I cooked it on high for about 2 hours turned information technology to low for virtually four or five hours. Just earlier serving, I mixed two Tbsp of coffee, two Tbsp of beef broth and Three Tbsp of flour in a small bowl, added this to the crockpot and turned pot to high for about 10 min. stirring every few min., this thickened the gravy just right. I served this with mashed potatoes and a greenish salad on the side. My wife said information technology was the all-time roast I'd ever made.

Instead of canned French Onion Soup I always use the soup mix in all kinds of varieties and use broth instead of water. I practice bake information technology on a college temp and less fourth dimension, then add cornstarch in the last 1/2 hr (and water if necessary) to thicken the gravy.

I used a boneless chuck steak, didn't have round. I sauteed onion and mushrooms, browned the meat, poured the onions and mushrooms over it, and then mixed 1 tin mushroom soup, 1 parcel Lipton Onion soup mix, and 1 tin can of water. I also put a buillion cube in with the onions and mushrooms. I cooked it in the oven, instead of the crock pot, and I remember it was alittle tough for that reason. Otherwise, it was awesome-gravy was but thick enough.
